English

English is one of the ways that I can express my views and opinion on different topics that are controversial, sensitive and etc. Writing is my way of saying things very clearly with little to no chance of misunderstanding. This year, I want to improve my public speaking and presentation skill, I want to write more precisely and straight to the point, and I want to write more essays.

Public speaking or social interaction is one of my biggest weaknesses. However, this year I intend to work on that, the more I grew up the more I realize that public speaking is a very important skill in adulthood. So I intend to work on that in English class.

My writing style is often very long and bore people out. I often ramble about different subtopics and beat around the bush. I want my listener or reader to retain their attention on my work more and intend to cut out more unnecessary details in my essays or story. I hope that this class helps me with my messy writing skills.

Speaking of writing skills, I really enjoy writing and I would say I excel at it. However, there is still a lot more room for improvement. I want to write more essays and stories in this class so I further enhance my vocabulary and practice making the content of my literature more interesting to read or listen to.

In conclusion, I want to work on my Public speaking, fix my messy writing, and further improve my writing skills, even though I am confident in my own writing. I would say that my skills are at 8 out of 10 and there is still room for improvement. I believe that literature is very important and fundamental in our current society, so I want to focus on it more and improve my skills in it.

To make sure that my assessments are on time, I will use the time that the school gave me to finish my work, including the SDL. I would also try to minimize my distraction at school so I can finish my work faster.

I am willing to learn and be open to everything and even people's opinions even though they differ from mine to help me succeed. My personal perception of life is that everyone is human and makes mistakes so we must use our and others' past mistakes as learning material to try and minimize further mistakes to help us in our success.

I follow the timetable that the school gave to me in order for me to manage my time. I will respect everyone's time and try my best to show up in time for every class and finish and submit my work on time as well. I will be utilizing my school time as effectively as possible so that I can manage my time properly and submit my assessments on time.

Art Blog

The picture above is the mind map I made during art class. It contains my rambles and some notes on the side that will help me create the art and idea I am visualizing. This diagram, it contains my personal philosophy and the reason why I am currently doing art. My art mostly stems from politics and injustices, which is one of the reasons why I like Barbara Kruger works.

These are some of my artwork before I picked DES as my class. I was really into drawing things that I like, especially the people who I admire or look up to. I was really into art when I was younger, and during my adolescence, my interest in politics and activism got mixed in.

I picked Post-modernism for my construct. Post-modernism is a construct of art in that the meaning is relative and differs from person to person, thus the meaning can always be relevant at any time. Although the era of which Post-modernism began, it is still contemporary with the state of our planet that we live in. For me, I believe that the meaning of an art piece is relative, with our different experiences and culture the way we view an art piece may change from person to person. I also want to create a piece that is contemporary and informs those who are ignorant about the disinformation and misinformation that is going on around the world. And lastly, I wanted to not only limit myself to one construct but seek to experiment with multiple types of constructs to create my own art so that I could find an art style I am confident and comfortable in.

Art is relative, I believe that no art is "bad" or "ugly". Each piece of art has its own meaning and purpose, the scale of art is not only limited to how aesthetically pleasing it is to our eyes but also the meaning, composition, and personality of it. We can compare art to handwriting, each one of us has different handwriting and some have better handwriting than others, but in the end what matters is what we write and the contents of what we write, not the visuals of it.

Going back to my mindmap, most of my philosophies and ideals root back to politics and injustices. There are a lot of corruption and injustices that are happening around the world and one of the reasons why that still exists to this date is that there are still people who are either silent or ignorant about the event. A quote from Edmund Burke "The only thing that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." We can eliminate most of the evil systems and entities in our world if the majority of us are informed on what's going on. Just like news and journalism, I intend to use my art to inform the crowd that might be a sheep that is blindly following an evil shepherd.

You can see in my mood board that there are some concept art and some editorial art in there, that is because I want to keep an open mind and gather as much material as I can learn from and use to help me compose better art. I always strive to become the best version of myself, and keeping an open mind and looking at other materials in other art that might not fall in my construct or category is a great way to learn. I believe that when it comes to learning, there are no rules that we need to follow, we can learn from other stuff that might not seem related to what we are doing or learning. As long as we keep an open eye on things around us, we have much more stuff to learn and do. We can learn as long as we are curious and interested to seek further knowledge.

In conclusion, I believe that art varies from person to person, that's why I chose post-modernism as my construct because it aligns with my philosophies. Like Barbara Kruger, she uses her art to spread a message and use it as a form of activism and I intend to do the same, I want to spread as much information as I can to the people to let them know the injustices and the privileged that they are having. And lastly, I believe that learning has no rules and we should explore as much as we can even though it is completely different or opposite from what we are learning. As long as we are curious, there is a lesson from everything, even from our own mistakes.
